The article profiles African American professor Harold Cruse in the U.S. Cruse, who was born in 1916, has offered critical and often searing explorations of issues of social justice and equality. He co-founded the Black Arts Theater and the School in Harlem, New York in 1960. His book "The Crisis of the Negro Intellectual" in 1967 analyzes leadership in the black community, philosophies of integration and separatism.
