Abstract: This publication is focused on neuronal and glioneuronal tumors of the central nervous system. Overall, these lesions are much less commonly encountered than their glioma counterparts. In the last 4 decades, the number of lesions that have been newly recognized as distinct entities in this arena has grown tremendously, due to the use of immunohistochemistry and most recently molecular studies. As a group, these tumors are important to distinguish from their glioma counterparts in that many of them have a better prognosis. This book will explore the clinical and pathologic features of these entities, including some of the recent molecular findings that have been discovered in some of these neoplasms.
