    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the implications for higher education of the gap between academics and administrators. It cites two recurring scenarios encountered by Matthew Andrews, academic registrar at Oxford Brookes University, that have caused him to regret his choice of profession at times. According to Andrews, there are two different models for the working relationship within universities, one is the civil servant model while the other is the cleric model.
