This article discusses efficient and low-cost initiatives being made by hospitals and health systems in the U.S. to survive the current economic crisis. Good Samaritan's Christian is using outsourcing wherein its chief information officers (CIOs) recommend smaller jobs, such as manning the help desk and rolling out personal computers to outside sites. Christus Health has implemented a new practice in which its information technology projects are prioritized.
