Abilities in inabilities: stages of care as told by elders. (English)
    • Abstract:
This article addresses stages of care from the perspective of an older person. The data consists of 18 interviews with elderly people in need of care, examined with qualitative content analysis method. According to the results, the care of the elderly includes four stages: previous life experiences, anticipating needs of care, negotiating care and receiving care. All these stages of care demand actions from older people. However, these actions are often not visible in care research, which traditionally concentrates on the carer or the caregiver. There is need for research on care that notifies and integrates the perspectives of those in need of care and of those giving care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
    • Abstract:
Artikkelissa tarkastellaan hoivan eri vaiheita vanhan ihmisen näkökulmasta. Aineistona on 18 hoivaa tarvitsevan henkilön haastattelua, joita on analysoitu sisällönanalyysin menetelmällä. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
