    • Abstract:
Economic, political, and social globalization processes have disrupted the relationship of societies to individual members and of societies to one another. This paper explores a narrow range of globalization effects on these relationships. Using international data bases to demonstrate people's attachment to and confidence in various levels of social order, I outline a preliminary sketch of these relationships. Select trends within and among states are analyzed in this context to suggest opportunities through which states may be strengthened rather than threatened by globalization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
