      The article discusses a debate over the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) in the U.S. Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Government Affairs Department director Mike Aitken noted the opposition of SHRM to EFCA. The implications of EFCA for card-check recognition and collective bargaining time frames are cited. EFCA would allow labor unions to present an employer with signed authorization cards from a majority of the employees it seeks to represent in order to be recognized by the employer.
