- Abstract:
This article discusses the possibility that an Islamic caliphate, which would rule all of the Muslim world, could be established. The historical construction of state-enforcement of Sharia law is presented as a post-colonial legacy that ignores the changing character of governance since the seventh century. Professor Abdullani Ahmed An-Na'im comments on this issue.
