      The article explores the living conditions in slums in Central Valley, California. It states that the widespread of slum areas has been brought by poverty, unemployment and other social disorders. The author discusses the implication of the emergence of these tent cities as well as mentions the main problems in these areas such as weather and criminality. However, slum communities have contributed a positive psychological impact on squatters which include boosting self-esteem and camaraderie. Various efforts to provide housing for these people living in tent cities are also noted.
