      The article reports on the plan of rural Internet service providers (ISPs) in the U.S. to collaborate in creating fiber-optic trunk lines and backbones. American Cable Association's president Matthew Polka has said that members are interested to use the stimulus funds to construct fiber backbone infrastructure in remote areas to lessen their reliance on current providers.
