Big-picture planning key to SaaS success. (cover story)

The article reports on the Information Technology (IT) managers' formulation of corporate-wide mandates and policies to ensure the adherence of software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications to the same principles governing their internal applications, infrastructures and platforms in the U.S. A study suggests that near-term strategies can be shortsighted since savings can lessen over time and complexity can arise as more services are deployed. Cutter Consortium found that 63% of the respondents use SaaS model in their organization while 28% are considering usage.
