- Abstract:
The article discusses signs of depression in the Chinese economy. The author predicts China will see astronomic rates of unemployment, but will innovate its way out of depression. The author compares China's 2009 economy to that of the U.S during the Great Depression. Politically, the author sees the Chinese as grateful to be living in the 21st century. The collective memory includes pushing an ox-drawn plow and grandmothers with bound feet; thus unemployment is unlikely to break their spirit.
