    • Abstract:
This article explains that U.S. economists are still wary about the prospect of rebound from recession even as retail sales have risen by 1% in January 2009. It says that the rise in retail sales follows six consecutive months of declines. IHS Global Insight economist Brian Bethune says that the best he can hope is that the economy is bottoming out. Consumers in the U.S. are still under pressure because of rising job losses and tightening credit channels.
