The article focuses on the issues concerning the Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) trial and the control of blood glucose level in type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). It states that ACCORD's glucose-lowering trial has been discontinued by the National Institutes of Health due to an increased rate of mortality in randomized treatment of high blood glucose level. According to some medical schools and practitioners, lowering the amount of glucose in the blood reduces vascular complications of diseases. It provides the effect of pharmaceutical medicines for diabetes and its clinical results. It also notes medically tested recommendations to control blood glucose level including weight control and regular exercise.
