- Abstract:
The article focuses on the U.S. Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), a legislation which would strengthen several laws and procedures that govern how workers choose whether or not to join a union. It cites that EFCA is a revision of existing labor laws that makes establishing a union easier for workers. It says that the rhetoric over EFCA has focused on one particular element of the legislation called card check. According to the proposed law, if a majority of workers fill out cards authorizing a union to represent them, the union is automatically certified.
