Health professionals still at risk of blood-borne viruses through work.

The article reports that Healthcare workers are being put at risk of blood-borne viruses as a result of preventable occupational, exposure, according to a recent British Health Protection Agency report. The report indicated that although absolute numbers of reported infections are low, a large number of preventable exposure incidents do occur and that, in respect of hepatitis C virus exposure, national guidelines for post-exposure prophylaxis and follow-up are not being complied with.
