The article discusses the differences and similarities between Standards Setting Organizations (SSOs) and Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) in relevance to the significance of accreditation of standards organization. It notes that SSO is an accredited or recognized organization by a known sanctioning body, meanwhile SSO can either be a consortium, forum, or professional organization that creates and approves standards. It identifies the different perceptions of accredited organization member's towards the types of standards organization. It also presents the common characteristics in the styles of work of accredited and unaccredited organizations which are seen at different trends and resolves that standards organizations have to maintain the efficiency of its processes.
