- Additional Information
- Alternate Title:
Contribution to the study of urinary lithiasis in children.
- Abstract:
The authors present 7 cases of urinary lithiasis (4 male and 3 female patients), aged between 3 and 12 months. The prevailing simptomatology was the violent abdominal cholica, microscopic hematuria and persistent piuria. The localization of the calculi was pielocaliceal in 4 of the cases, vezical in 2 cases and uretheral in one case. Malformation of the kidneys and urinary tracts were present in 5 lithiasis cases; relative hypercalciuria in two cases and lithiasis in family at two infants. The chemical analysis of the calculi, done at 4 newborns revealed the presence of calcium oxalates in 3 cases and of the ammonia-magnesian fosfates in one case. In 4 cases surgical intervention was needed and extracorporeal litotrition was done in 3 newborns. The reapparition of the calculi was registered at 2 infants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
