- Abstract:
The article discusses the legal questions surrounding the trials of individuals before the International Criminal Court in the Hague, Netherlands. In particular, the author discusses how the Oxford University legal professor Ian Brownlie and Alain Pellet, a legal professor from Harvard University, defended opposing legal viewpoints. During the trials, Pellet defended the cause of Bosnians and the Bosnian government while Brownlie depended Serbians and the Serbian government. Among the legal issues raised were the court's power of subpoena and whether or not nations could be held responsible for crimes of genocide.
