      The article reports on the question of whether debt relief initiatives are an option for scaling up health financing in beneficiary countries. It states that the central goal of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative and Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI) is to free additional resources for public spending on poverty alleviation. The author notes on narrowing down the information gap by classifying debt relief savings managements systems observed in practice. He also mentions some of the advantages as well as the drawbacks and outline the policy implications for health officials operating in the concerned countries.
