The article presents a clinical inquiry which examined the venous thrombolic events (VTE) risk on the patch and vaginal ring compare to oral contraceptives. It claims that the evince on the risk produced by transdermal patch when compared to oral contraceptives (OC) is conflicting. The World Health Organization Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use (WHOMEC) reported that long-term safety data for the strogen-progestetin contraceptive are not available, moreover, it asserts that the vaginal ring has risk of VTE compare to oral contraceptives.
