The article reports on the study that examines the nutritional benefits of chestnuts. The study found that Portuguese cheshnuts contain significant amount of polyphenols and antioxidants linked to prevent heart disease, diabetes, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. It suggests selecting chestnuts with a rich brown, hard outer shell as well as free of soft spots, mold and deterioration.
