      The article discusses the condition of mining investment and community struggles in Ghana, as of September 2008. The section describes the dependence of the mineral sector in the country to economic reforms in Africa, which aims to increase economic growth and reducing poverty. Among of the topics discussed in the section include the challenge to development and governance in Ghana, regulatory frameworks and the challenges to community rights, and the land use conflict. It also reflects on the foreign exchange earnings from mineral production in Ghana from 1985 to 1999.
