    • Abstract:
This article presents an archaeological perspective on Minneapolis Irish-American workers in Minnesota. It discusses the permeable nature of social boundaries in urban working-class and middle-class neighborhoods, asserting that working-class people exhibited socially meaningful values and behaviors that can be considered middle class. It also examines archaeological data from four Minneapolis sites inhabited during the nineteenth century by Irish immigrants and their families, pointing to widely held misconceptions regarding workers and class.
