      An essay is presented discussing the character of the candidates for the 2008 U.S. presidential election. It discusses how candidates John McCain and Barack Obama were chosen to represent the Republican and Democratic parties due to their life stories rather than their policy prescriptions. The author argues that the intrinsic difference between the candidates is that McCain wishes to bring honor and morality to the American image whereas Obama desires to unify the country.
