- Abstract:
The article offers observations on the speech given by U.S. presidential candidate George W. Bush at the 2000 Republican National Convention. Bush was impeccably conservative on the major issues. He outlined the moral case for school choice, missile defense, tax cuts, restrictions on abortion and free-market reform of Social Security. He also stated his support for a prescription-drug benefit for seniors. The speech was about character, not just policy. He gave an interpretation of U.S. history and related his candidacy within it.
