Exploring the relationship between sexual delinquency and ethnicity using police data. (English)

Using arrest data we analyze the association between sexual delinquency and ethnicity. Controlling for size, sex- and age-composition of the ethnic minority groups, we find that most ethnic minority groups are overrepresented among sexual offenders arrested in the Netherlands in 2005. However, we also find that the level of overrepresentation depends on the type of sexual offence, overrepresentation of non-Dutch offenders being highest for sexual assault and rape, and lower for exhibitionism and child molestation. Comparing ethnic groups, results show arrestees of Dutch Antillean origin to be most strongly overrepresented among general as well as sexual offenders, especially with regard to rape.
