      The article provides information on the government of Costa Rica. The country is a democratic republic, wherein executive responsibilities are vested in a president. The Costa Rican Constitutional Court annulled a 1969 constitutional reform in April 2003 which had barred presidents from running for reelection. Costa Rica ratified the U.S.-Central American-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement in October 2007.
