    • Abstract:
The object of this paper is to assess the need for the integration of a value based course on communicative skills, especially premeditated for the distant learners. The plunging fervor of the employers in the degrees and diplomas the higher educational institutions offer, the realistic feature of the capacity building of the students, the fortitude to offer need-based scholarly programmes -- these factors boost up the question of inculcating communicative skills in the curriculum of open universities. This challenge can be answered by the access of real time entities like communication laboratories, CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning), MALL (Mobile Assisted Language Learning) through the maximum use of information and communication technology.
