    • Abstract:
This article discusses the significance of hunting trophies that returned to Great Britain with the officer-hunters who shot them in the development of natural history. The development of scientific knowledge by hunters is presented in connection with the masculinisation of natural science. The importance of natural history in big game hunting during the 19th and early 20th centuries is noted. The use of specimens and hunting techniques in the British educational system is described. The scientific perspectives of the officer-hunters Abel Chapman, Maurice Egerton, and Percy Powell-Cotton are explored in depth.
