    • Abstract:
The article reports on the unfinished National Disease-Tracking System. Since 2001, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has promoted the adoption of a Web-based system designed to provide rapid access to information regarding nationwide infectious disease outbreaks. However, the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) is far from being completed due to a shortage of federal funding and availability of a single technology to be deployed. Initially, NEDSS will not be used to monitor all infectious diseases.
