    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the study on how to trace the origin of genes for a particular mental illness. In 1968, as a part of a genetic survey in the Scottish detention center, a boy carried a major translocation in which there is an exchange of chromosomes parts. After several years of tracing the family origin, it was found out that the same chromosomal abnormality spanned four generations having varied effects. The gene that chops up the translocation is called disrupted-in-schizophrenia 1 (DISC1). It is the greatest reasons for the involvement in any psychiatric diseases. According to Daniel Weinberger, the study might wait years because there was a failure with any replicable findings.
