- Abstract:
The article examines the vegetation of the boreal hazel forests in the British Isles. Based on an article that appeared in a 1928 issue of "Empire Forestry Journal," vegetation records of hazel as shown in pollen statistics should be examined. In connection to this, Professor von Post argued that the hazel once formed real forests in certain places on the basis of pollen statistics. There were suggestions that the boreal hazel forests of south Sweden represented a maritime forest type, while others see it as continental type.
