      The article focuses on European Union (EU) agencies and programmes as of June 2008. It is said that Ukraine and the EU are poised to hold negotiations concerning a new agreement that would replace the outdated format and content of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and ensure economic integration of the country with the EU. The functions of various EU agencies are cited, which include community, common foreign and security policy agencies. The factors to be considered by third countries in joining EU programmes are discussed.
