    • Abstract:
The article discusses the widespread computer crimes in the U.S. despite the adoption of data breach notification laws. According to researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, this legislation did not cut down identity theft. Sasha Romanosky said that there does not seem to be any evidence that the laws actually lessen identity theft. The research team assessed the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) identity theft complaints filed between 2002 and 2006 to see if there was an impact on complaints in states that had adopted the law and found that there was no significant effect.
