In this article the author discusses the attempt to reconcile Islam and the West through international agencies and interfaith discussion. The tensions felt between the West and radical Islam have their roots in a number of factors including Muslim resentment of U.S. foreign policy and the ideological conflict brought on by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
