THE ROLE OF INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL IN GLOBALISATION CONDITIONS.
    • Abstract:
Since the 1990s, the emerging global economy has led to an increased emphasis on the importance of IC and on a firm's ability to create economic value through managing IC. Contemporary forces such as globalisation, new technology and the demand for innovation, the relatively free flow of capital, increased competition, changes in customer demand, changes in economic and political structures, and the role of the state in supporting knowledge economies have reshaped the way business is carried out. Purpose of work - to determine the influence of intellectual capital to the market value in globalization environment. Research object - the concept of intellectual capital. Methods of research - comparative and economical analysis of science's literature. Knowledge-based firms are growing exponentially and the demand for knowledge based products and services is growing in the global economy. It's important, that even traditional sectors are gradually including knowledge components in their products and services, which ultimately enhance the value of the firm. The breaking down of geographic barriers, decreasing transaction costs, and more freely available capital in the intangible economy are affecting the entire world. These phenomena have made intellectual capital (IC) more valuable, thus allowing knowledge-based firms to earn even higher profits. Instead, the main benefit of these indicators is their capacity to maximise the market value of the firm in support of the objective of capital maximisation for capital providers. This is a useful outcome for firms: the capitalist model of production relies on investor capital to operationalise and expand capital growth in a firm, and investor capital tends to move to firms that can maximise their market value so that investors can gain the highest value from their investment. After Lithuania became the member of European Union, all the companies consider business competition and successful development in the present and new markets, increasing their value, to be the most actual problem. According to the results of the research, it could be stated, that during the process of global companies' incorporation, each company, to maximize its value-added, must choose and apply intellectual capital classification. Application of the IC model determining company's value allows to base stocks value. In estimation results of research we could to define, that the business value is very important in the process of buying the company, cooperation, privatization process analysis, in the process of making the right solution, because stock market price not always shows the real stock value, most companies do not sell their stocks in the market. Particularly, the determine of business value must be actual for individual companies and stock limited companies owners, several important moments must be taken into consideration, the knowledge of the own company's value directly may influence such actions: · Selling the whole company or its part. In this case knowledge of company value can allow demanding the proper price selling stocks and during the negotiation it can help to demand the maximum benefit from this transaction. · In cooperation with the other company. In the process of companies' cooperation it is important to determine and correctly base the distribution of stocks among shareholders. · Basing financial solutions, which are linked with the participation in stocks plans, MBO management buy-out, with the attraction of new shareholders. · Test if the strategy enlarge company's value and warrant shareholders expectations [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
