The Four Newac Core Concepts.

The article focuses on the core concepts of the new aeroengine core technology (Newac) project in Europe. In an intercooled engine, air exiting the low-pressure (LP) compressor is cooled before entering the high-pressure (HP) compressor using bypass air scooped into a set of heat exchangers nested around the engine core. The intercooled recuperative engine uses heat exchanger modules in the main exhaust to extract thermal energy and transfer it back into the combustion chamber.
