    • Abstract:
The article reports on the study which investigates the preferences of women for intrapartum care in Scotland. The study used discrete choice experiments and focus groups. The study indicated that women living in rural areas would prefer to give birth in hospital and have consultant-led care rather than local midwife-led units. It is showed that the heterogeneity of preferences were related to experience, risk status, geographic location, perception of care and family circumstances.
