The article reports on the findings of a study from the Nationwide Children's Hospital and Ohio State University which described practice and competition injury rates and patterns in high school sports. It compared the injuries among high school athletes participating in boys' and girls' sports, including football, soccer and basketball. It found that the average injury rate was 2.5 injuries per 1,000 athlete exposures, practice or competition.
