The article discusses a study which examined the coefficient of humidity as a new method of expressing the soil moisture. The question whether it is possible to obtain a value for the water content that will be in any way expressive of the habitat is considered by the author. The process of analysis and the reduction of the results used by the author is described. The article also discusses the importance of humus in increasing the water capacity of a soil as well as the new working theory that was formulated.
