    • Abstract:
The author reflects on the cost crisis of Medicare in the U.S. He argues that the Medicare program can only be improved by a universal health care reform. He believes that the efforts of conservatives to make Medicare operate more like the rest of the health-care system only makes it more inefficient. Furthermore, he argues that without the reforms for a universal health care, efforts to contain cost only promotes shifting the cost to other parts of the system.
