      The article discusses the physical and emotional condition of the Mexicans in the late 17th century. It demonstrates the study on how Sor Juana has responded to such exclusion by promoting physical torment. She forges a bond between female suffering and persistently search for knowledge as a constant and unifying thread in her multi-faceted work. Her writing within patriarchal confines with her representation of the suffering body as a conduit to knowledge.
