    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the changes in the job titles of information technology (IT) professionals and its impact on their job roles. The two contributing factors in the trend are; the commercialization of technology and the growing base of new workers who are technologically savvy and accustomed to having technology play a background role in just about everything they do. According to the author, as IT professionals in the 21st century, their job titles will be on the business side, while their role will likely be cancelled based on developments in computers, databases, software or data networks. IT is no longer a subset of specialty, but an integration of whatever work an IT professional tries to get done. INSET: STILL ROOM FOR GEEKS.
