- Abstract:
This article reports on a study by the U.S. Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging showing that high-potassium diets protect muscles. Researcher Bess Dawson-Hughes examined 400 men and women over 65 years old over three years and learned that the more potassium the subjects ate, the more muscles they had. The article also discusses potassium-rich foods, pH in the body, and how potassium can help age-related muscle decline.
