      The article discusses how the small Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan is trying to enter the modern world while also holding on to their ancient culture. Bhutan's ruler, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, has been trying to bring the kingdom into modernity for years. Wangchuck's plan is based on four main pillars; sustainable development, environmental protection, cultural preservation, and good governance. The article explains that the plan has worked and it has taken Bhutan out of poverty.
