      The author reflects on globalization and the 2008 global economy. He states that the global playing field has been narrowed due to technological innovations with many of the view that demographics are no longer applicable. However, he does not feel this way. According to the author population and economic energy are mixed more in the 2008 global economy. He looks at the patents granted in the U.S. for 2003 to prove this. Out of 170,000 patents for inventions worldwide 80% went to Americans, Japanese, and Germans.
