- Abstract:
The article presents a perspective on the motion picture "The Jazz Singer." It has been noted by the author that the movie is the archetypical narrative of influence in the American film industry. However, criticism has concentrated on the movie's treatment of assimilation rather that ignoring the question of secularization. On the other hand, the movie encourages viewers to substitute one issue for the other. Furthermore, criticism simplifies the issue of secularization surrounding the film as problems and as concerns in modern U.S. culture.
