- Abstract:
A biography of author Kahlil Gibran is presented. He was born in Bsharri, Lebanon in 1883 and immigrated to the United States in 1895. His relationships with photographer Fred Holland Day and headmistress Mary Haskell are discussed. His writings are examined including "The Prophet," and "Jesus, the Son of Man." The article discusses Gibran's literary traits, including idealism, vagueness, and sentimentality, which led him to be popular among readers but ignored by contemporary artists.
