The article focuses on the American Institute of Biological Sciences Inc. (AIBS) Special Science Programs (SSP). The program is assisting the U.S. environmental protection agency (EPA) Office of Pesticide Programs to identify generally accepted methods for testing efficacy and hazard. According to a report by a study group, baculoviruses and entomogenous bacteria for pest control are not hazardous to man, other mammals and plants. The members of the study group are Terry L. Couch, Louis A. Falcon, James D. Harper, William H. McGaughey and William Yearian.
